McCain called on Obama to sell more arms to Taiwan

U.S. Sen. John McCain and Sen. Ben Cardin have jointly sent a letter to President Obama, asking him to sell more weapons to Taiwan even if doing so brings “short-term tensions in (U.S.) relationship with China.”

According to the Congressional Research Service, potential sales to Taiwan include signals intelligence aircraft, C-27s, F-35s, Stryker armored vehicles, MH-53s, Phalanx CIWS, Perry-class frigates, Newport-class tank landing ships, Aegis Ashore missile defenses, Sky Warrior unmanned aerial vehicles, and MH-60 helicopters.
