Australia selects DCNS to build 12 submarines

Australia has chosen France’s DCNS Group to build 12 submarines for the Royal Australian Navy. The contract is worth $39 billion.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the “French offer represented the capabilities best able to meet Australia’s unique needs.”

DCNS had offered a conventionally-powered version of the Barracuda-class submarine that it is building for the French Navy.
