India’s state-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder for a tender to supply the Philippine Navy with two light frigates.

GRSE beat Hyundai Heavy Industries Inc.; Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd.; and Navantia S.A. as the front runner.

The firm is offering a 2,000-ton design based on the Kamorta-class anti-submarine corvette, in service with the Indian Navy.
