Australia orders two more KC-30As

Australia has placed an order for two more KC-30A aerial refueling tankers, increasing the fleet from five to seven aircraft.

Both jets will be delivered to RAAF Base Amberley in 2018 and the cost to the Australian taxpayer is AUD $408m.

The Royal Air Force’s II (AC) Squadron deployed to RNAS Culdrose for a week-long exercise near the English Channel with HMS Defender.

The deployment also tested the squadron’s ability to operate outside its home base at RAF Lossiemouth.

Swedish Supreme Commander says Russian fighters firing flares during encounters

Sweden’s top military chief Gen. Sverker Goransson on Monday said Russian fighters had released flares at Swedish Air Force planes during encounters over the Baltic Sea.

Goransson added that the Russian planes break formation and flew at unsafe distances.
