Philippines asked U.S. to deploy patrol planes to escort resupply missions in South China Sea

Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said he has asked visiting U.S. Pacific commander, Adm. Harry Harris Jr., to deploy U.S. patrol aircraft when the former do resupply missions to the Second Thomas Shoal.

Gazmin added that such requests had already been fulfilled earlier when a Philippine boat delivered supplies last year to troops stationed on board a rusting ship there.

Eight F/A-18s from the Royal Australian Air Force are in El Tari Airport in Kupang, Indonesia for exercise Elang Ausindo. The exercise started on Aug. 21 and will end today.

USAF to review KC-46 schedule

USAF to review KC-46 schedule

A review of the KC-46 schedule has been initiated to see if Boeing is able to deliver the tanker in August of 2017, Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James said.

“We’re in the process of going over the schedule again to see whether we can see our way clear on that as well,” James said. “Certainly, the margin in the schedule is all but gone at this point.”
