Turkey issues urgent RFI for armed UAVs

Turkey has an urgent requirement for an unknown number of armed unmanned aerial vehicles and interested parties have until May 25 to respond.

Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) stated that both medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) or high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) models are under consideration.

NGO says North Korea carried out executions using ZPU towed anti-aircraft guns

Non-government organization, Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, has release a report saying the North Korea had executed prisoners using ZPU towed anti-aircraft guns.

The act occurred on Oct. 7, 2014 at the firing range in Kanggon Military Training Area.

Cameroon Z-9 crash landing

Cameroon Air Force Z-9 crashed while landing at Douala airport on Apr. 23. Two pilots on board were hospitalized for two days.

Qatar buys 24 Rafales

The French president’s office said today that Qatar has placed an order for 24 Rafale fighters.

The 6.3 billion euros contract will be signed in Doha on May 4. The package includes weapons and training of 36 Qatari pilots and 100 technicians.

Triple Nickel deploys to Afghanistan

The 555th “Triple Nickel” Fighter Squadron arrived at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan on Apr. 27 for a six-month deployment there.

They will replace the 4th Fighter Squadron from Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

GAO backs U.S. Army’s aviation restructuring plan

The U.S. Government Accountability Office has endorsed the Army’s aviation restructure plan. The watchdog says the Army’s proposal is less expensive than a Guard proposal and better meets mission demands.
