A-10 makes emergency landing at air base threatened by ISIL forces in Iraq

Airmen from the 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron overcame odds to get an A-10 back flying after the jet made an emergency landing in Al Asad Air Base in Iraq’s Anbar province.

The jet’s number one engine suffered catastrophic damage during a routine refueling mission and usually the repair would have taken a month to complete.

Zimbabwe K-8 crashed

A Air Force of Zimbabwe K-8 jet trainer crashed near Thornhill Airbase on Apr. 24. Both pilots on board ejected safely.

Majority of Sea Dragons still grounded

The U.S. Navy currently has only six serviceable MH-53E Sea Dragons, two-months after it ordered a fleet-wide inspection to look for damaged wires and fuel lines.

Priority has been given to the seven Sea Dragons based in Bahrain and South Korea. Five had repairs completed.

Canadian drone being tested to hunt submarines

The Canadian military is interested to try out the TD100 from Brican Automated Systems to hunt for submarines or mines.

This summer, researchers with the National Research Council plans to install magnetometers on board the miniature unmanned aerial vehicle and test it around Bourget.
