The government of Malta has signed a contract to buy its third AW139 helicopter last week, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela announced.

A neighborhood in Baghdad was accidentally bombed by a Su-25 that was returning to land on Jul. 6. At least eight people on the ground were killed.

The pilot had made six attempts to jettison the bomb during an attack against ISIL forces. The bomb fell off as it flew over the city.

Two on board a Russian Air Force Su-24M were killed when their jet crashed in Khabarovsk on Jul. 6. The accident occurred around 14:35 Moscow time.

According to TASS, the jet banked sharply to the left and hit the ground after take-off.

U.S. wants Iraq to base F-16IQs in Jordan, lawmaker says

A lawmaker from the Shiite bloc in the Iraqi parliament told reporters that Washington has pressured Baghdad to base its new F-16IQs in Jordan instead of returning them home.

“We have information the U.S. has decided that the three F-16s should carry out airstrikes from the land of Jordan while Iraq has a big airbase in the Ziqar province in southern Iraq,” Abed Issawi said.

The Russian military organized a competition, dubbed Keys to the Sky 2015, for its Pantsir-S1 units in Buryatia.

The Aerospace Defense Forces won first place, with the Eastern Military District taking second place and the Southern Military District coming in third.
