Indonesia working on procurement plan for ShinMaywa US-2

Indonesia is working on a procurement plan with Japan to buy the ShinMaywa US-2 amphibious plane.

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense released a statement saying that Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu and Indonesia’s ambassador to Japan, Yusron Ihza Mahendra, discussed the plan on May 5.

Dassault can double production output of Rafale if it signs 3rd contract

Dassault’s CEO Eric Trappier told reporters his company can double the production output of the Rafale fighter if a third export order is secured.

“For now we have the first two contracts which fit into our existing production, because France is substituting export planes for its own planes,” he said.

U.S. judge clears USAF to re-evaluate 3DERLL bids

A bid by Raytheon to stop the U.S. Air Force to re-evaluate bids for the 3D Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DERLL) has failed after a judge dismissed the lawsuit.

Raytheon had earlier won the contest to replace the aging AN/TPS-75 radar. However, the Government Accountability Office later sided with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman and called for a re-evaluation.

Israel says Egypt buying S-300VM

A senior Israeli intelligence official confirmed to Reuters that Egypt is getting the S-300VM air defense system.

Bangladesh Air Force Mi-17 crashed

A Bangladesh Air Force Mi-17 crashed at BAF Base Zahurul Haque around 11:06 hours on May 13.

Three on board the helicopter were injured. The pilot had radioed the airport declaring an inflight emergency before the crash.
