Indonesian Army UH-1D helicopter crash landed

A Indonesian Army UH-1D helicopter carrying out an autorotation training exercise crashed at Achmad Yani international airport on Apr. 21.

The crash forced the airport to close the runway for an hour, leading to two outbound delays and diversion of another two inbound aircraft.

Poland selects Patriot, H225M

Two major announcements from the Polish military yesterday. Firstly, Poland will enter exclusive talks to purchase the Patriot air defense system. Secondly, the Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal is its preferred choice for a utility helicopter tender.

The military will still have to test the H225M before placing an order for 50 rotorcraft. Initially, the plan was to buy 70 new helicopters.

Philippines terminates UH-1 deal

Philippines Department of National Defense has terminated a deal for 21 UH-1 helicopters after receiving 7 aircraft.

The suppliers, Rice Aircraft Services Inc. and Eagle Copters Ltd., have been blacklisted by the government as well.

The project is under controversy as Philippines paid P1.2-billion for 21 UH-1D helicopters instead of the UH-1H.
