Researchers explore Ottoman Navy frigate that sunk off Japan in 1890

Ottoman Navy frigate, Ertugrul, visited Japan in 1890. But the ship, along with more than 500 sailors on board, never made it home. The ship sunk shortly after leaving Yokohama Port on Sept. 16.

Now, a private team of Japanese and Turkish researchers are exploring the wreckage to find remnants that provide a sense of the lives of the sailors on the Ertugrul.
