USN hopes to restart its heavyweight torpedo program

At the annual Naval Submarine League symposium, Director of Undersea Warfare Rear Adm. Charles Richard, told attendees that he hopes to restart the heavyweight torpedo program as the current lineup of weapons are getting old.

The new torpedo will be modular in nature, allowing the swapping of different payloads, different propulsion systems and even different fuel supplies.
