Philippine Navy redesignates Gregorio del Pilar-class as patrol ship

The Philippine Navy has declared that the Gregorio del Pilar-class of three ex U.S. Coast Guard high endurance cutters are now designated as patrol ships.

They were previously designated as frigates but as the ships lacked anti-surface, anti-air, anti-submarine capabilities, a decision was made to degrade the designation.
